As is officially known that 50 - 80% of routers in the rsa listen on the wan with default logins (or easy2crack).

so why not a way of accessing as many as you can then setting open wifi for every hack.ZA member ,
making a hiden ssid with name hackdotorg, then make this profl in our systems with extra wifi nic,
1 day it picks it up and connect autocaly coz some1 here had just hacked my nabour's router putting hackdotorg as open ssid.
the next day i visit my dude in the other side of the city i find the same hiden open ssid ,
so now i can link with my dude over 'routed wifi' as long as we all use protected protols we shall stay free.
all of us here may end up with an alternative to free mbps this way.

info on cracking routers is found in internet account topic

If I understand correctly you want to link multiple wifi accesspoints/ routers with one another creating a VPN so to speak?

Or do you just want to pawn all the accesspoint you can find and then create hidden SID's and distribute the passwords to all?

I think he meant the latter, which could be an interesting project; we could set up a site listing all known open/cracked APs in major areas in SA.

I have just gotten back into RSA from working over in NZ for a few years and if you read the McDonalds website they say that they give open wifi access to the internet, I can not confirm it asof just yet over here in SA but recon the bigger branches might have them.

They certainly do in New Zealand (50MB quota which can be bypassed by changing your MAC address), along with most coffee shops and cafes.

Don't people go WarDriving these days?

Common people - Some guy with a Laptop and some decent utils: Spend an hour driving around your local area, write down all the WiFi network you come across, and paste them here :)

Later maybe we can go on a WiFi hacking spree - Or just some tuts on how to hack WiFi networks... Or something :)

I actually went war driving coming back from ZaCON, just quickly took a side turn through Sandton before heading home. It's freaking amazing how many people still use WEP...

This kinda remind me off a few years back, neighbor came visiting and complained that his CAP get used up so darn quickly and he does not know why. His ISP tells his that he is using it...

Well, you can put 1 and 1 together... ;)
